Large-format tiles look effortless when they go down right — fewer grout lines, continuous stone or porcelain across a wall or floor, and an architectural finish that suits high-spec homes and flagship commercial spaces. Large Format Tiling Questions
What size tiles count as large-format?
Anything 600×600mm and larger is generally considered large-format. We regularly install 600×600, 600×1200, 800×800, 1200×1200, and slab formats up to 1200×2400mm in both porcelain and stone.
Do large-format tiles need special substrate preparation?
Yes. The bigger the tile, the lower the tolerance for an uneven substrate. We assess and prepare with self-levelling compounds or screeds so the finished surface stays lippage-free across every joint.
Can large-format tiles be used in bathrooms and wet areas?
Absolutely — they are a popular choice for bathrooms, showers, and feature walls. We coordinate the waterproof membrane, falls to waste, and tile set-out so the bigger format works correctly in a wet environment.
Do you handle the supply and delivery of large-format tiles?
We can install client-supplied tiles, or coordinate with your supplier on delivery, handling, and storage. Large tiles need careful handling — we plan access and lifting at the quoting stage.
Is there a price premium for large-format installation?
Large-format tiling generally costs more per square metre to install — substrate prep is more involved, tiles are heavier to handle, and set-out planning takes more time. We itemise this clearly in the quote so there are no surprises.
