Detailed kitchen set-outs, done properly

JSR Tiling handles detailed kitchen set-outs — splashbacks, full-height walls, feature walls, and floors — including the tiling around cabinetry, benchtops, windows, rangehood areas, and power points that makes a kitchen read as one tidy job. Kitchen splashbacks are a specialised part of our wider wall tiling work.

The kitchen is a high-use area, so practical tile selection and durable finishing matter as much as the look. We help you choose formats and grout that hold up to daily use, then set them out cleanly for a result that looks sharp where you stand closest to it.

Popular Styles
Subway, large-format, stone-look

A broad range of kitchen tile formats.

Subway tiles

A kitchen classic — clean lines, easy to keep looking sharp.

Large-format porcelain

Fewer grout lines for a seamless, modern splashback or floor.

Mosaic & feature tiles

Used to lift a single wall or zone behind a range or island.

Stone-look porcelain

The look of natural stone with the durability of porcelain.

Natural stone

Where the brief calls for it, sealed and laid to suit the use.

Textured & handmade-look

Adds depth to feature areas without overpowering the kitchen.

Clean cuts and considered set-out

Kitchen tiling is judged up close, in good light, every day. We plan the set-out before fixing a single tile so cuts land symmetrically, grout lines run true, and the pattern resolves neatly into corners, around windows, and at the ends of a splashback.

We work with ARDEX and Mapei systems, select the right adhesive and grout for the surface, and finish with neat grout and colour-matched silicone. Where a kitchen floor calls for it, we manage the substrate preparation so large-format tiles sit flat.

Homeowners and builders

JSR Tiling has worked with builders including Mike Greer Homes, Stonewood Homes, and Fletcher Living, alongside homeowners renovating their own kitchens. We coordinate with joiners, benchtop installers, plumbers, and electricians so tiling slots into the build at the right time.

We suit modern new-build kitchens, renovations, and higher-spec residential projects, plus selected commercial and staff-kitchen areas. For trade work see tiling for builders; for whole-home projects see residential tiling and commercial tiling.

Kitchen Tiling Questions

What tiles are best for a kitchen splashback?

Subway tiles, large-format porcelain, stone-look porcelain, and glass or stone mosaics are all popular and practical. The right choice depends on your benchtop, cabinetry, and the look you are after — we will talk options through at the quote stage.

Do you install kitchen floor tiles as well as splashbacks?

Yes. We handle the full kitchen — splashbacks, full-height walls, feature walls, and floor tiling. For floors we also manage substrate preparation and levelling so large-format tiles sit flat. See our floor tiling page for more on floor work.

Can you tile around existing cabinetry and benchtops?

Yes — precise cutting around cabinets, benchtops, windows, rangehoods, and power points is standard work. We measure carefully and use the right tools for clean cuts and tidy edges.

Can you install large-format tiles in kitchens?

Yes. Large-format porcelain is some of our most common work. The substrate preparation is the important part — we prepare and level the surface so large tiles sit flat without lippage.

How do you handle grout and silicone colours?

We help you choose grout and silicone colours to suit your tile and finish — whether you want the grout to blend in or define the pattern. Silicone is colour-matched to the join it sits in for a tidy result.

Do you work with both builders and homeowners on kitchen tiling?

Yes. We tile kitchens for homeowners renovating, and for builders on new-build and higher-spec residential projects, coordinating with joiners, benchtop installers, and other trades. See our tiling for builders page for trade work.
